Happy Fall Y'all!

Okay, so now I have a really good reason to blog. Tuesday, December 23rd I found out that I have breast cancer, for the second time. (...that was not easy to write!) I had my yearly mammogram this month and was called back for a second. They said there were some calcifications that looked suspicious-like cancer of the duct. I had a core biopsy Friday and Tuesday I got the news-Merry Christmas to me. I only want to think of the present battle I have at hand and I refuse to think of what the future could hold. My first cancer surgery, a lumpectomy, was January 5th, 1994. I was only 24 at the time and we just didn't believe it would cancer then. And here I am fifteen years later. But this time I was not surprised. At the risk of seeming overly brave or superficial, I must tell you that I am at peace. If you have a personal relationship with Christ, you can understand when I make that statement. I truly believe that this is God's plan, He is allowing this for my life and that He plans to do something really great here, so you better stand back. Awhile back I asked God to use me for something special-I really wanted it to be like the mother of super talented kids or maybe to be a great witness for him or maybe a call to a special mission project. This is not what I was thinking, but I will accept it as "something special".

There is so much to say but I will stop here for the night. My purpose in this blog is for my friends to follow my treatment, see MY RECOVERY, and hear my thoughts. I am getting ready to be transformed by the renewing of my faith. Watch and see.

Okay, so I considered dropping this blog business. I just can't keep up and really, who's gonna read it. So Marty-this blogs for you!
Pete has been unhappy with his job for 5 years or so due to layoffs and everything being send to Mexico and China. So for 5 years we have been praying for a new job. He always said he wanted to work at St. JudeMedical and finally the door has been opened! He starts December 1st and he is so excited. It'll be nice for him to be a part of a thriving company that still makes keeping industry in the US a priority. He'll be a component engineer making capacitors for pacemakers. Yippeee!!!

Hello, soccer...

Tonight was the girls' first soccer practice. Wouldn't you know the girls do not have practice the same nights. This means we'll only have Tuesday evenings free-so sad. Such is life with kids I suppose. See, I told you I didn't have time for this...

First day of School

Okay, some moms cry when their little ones go off to Kindergarten, right? For me- well, it was not exactly like that. Mine was more like tires screeching out of the parking lot. I will say I felt a little guily about not walking her in on the first day, but I knew her big sister would look out for her. I did feel better after talking to The Brains and he reassured me that letting her go in on her own was not considered neglect and that we wanted our children to be the independent type. Both girls were very happy this afternoon and I am glad things will soon be settling down. Oh but then there's the new puppy.......

On the advice of a friend, I am launching my blog! I totally do not know what I am doing so bear with me. Here's why I hesitated to get started...#1--I'm not all that computer literate so I have to call on my husband constantly when I am trying to do something. #2 I am not a great typist-writing a funny story could take me hours. #3 Who is gonna read it? #4 Where will I find the time to write or the energy to be amising?
Reasons why I'll do it anyway--#1--I love to read other peoples blogs. I was especially inspired by one mom who posts letters to her children on their birthdays and I'd like to try that. #2-- I am keeping up with an old friend by reading her blog, so maybe I can find long lost friends to correspond with. #3 I was voted wittiest girl in 8th grade. #4 I love funny stories about kids.

I hope someone, somewhere will enjoy this as much as I know I will!!!
